The Ultraviolet Project Part 3 – Meet the Band

In my last post, I wrote that I had the hardest time writing for one of my characters because of many factors, one of them being that I had no idea how to write for extroverts. So, I did some googling and explored new writing, brainstorming, and note-taking exercises, and I think I got the desired result. However, I wanted to go deeper. Ok, maybe not that super deep, but I wanted to make myself think even more about these characters as real people, and I wanted to have fun in the process. So, I asked myself, what’s something that I haven’t done for these characters that I have done for some of my other characters in the past.

The Ultraviolet Project part 2 – Finishing a chapter, how to write extroverts and finding new note-taking methods

Finishing a chapter is amazing! In a project as big as writing a novel (not that I know how long this project will end up being), just the sense of finishing something, of feeling that you created the beginning and the end of something has got to count for a mini-win, a small victory, a low hanging fruit as my boss would say (again, not that this was that easy to obtain). And yes, I’ve finished chapters for projects in the past, but I went through a good bunch of ordeals in this one specifically, so I’ll take it to my little corner of the internet to celebrate it.

It is time! For my first book review of the year!

In 2021, I ended the year reading “The Midnight Library” by Matt Haig, a book with a really cool concept that I had hopes for, and while the message and the character’s journey were positive and a respectful take on death, the ending left a lot to be desired…

Which is why we’re starting the year with something completely different! A book that I’ve heard of so many times and that I refused to read because I knew 100% what would happen…and I wasn’t wrong, but I said “let’s just get this reading year started, ok?”

Death Parade || An anime review by pj

New year, new reviewing resolutions! Expect a review for every time I watch or read something new!

Now we kickstart the year with an anime that I’ve been wanting to watch since my Tumblr days back in 2015, Death Parade. Animated by Madhouse, the same studio that brought us Death Note, One Punch Man, HunterxHunter– oh, and even one of my favorite series, Cardcaptors Sakura, back in the 90s and the Clear Card sequel in 2018. Interesting.

Death Parade is actually a very refreshing series that is not based on a manga or even a light novel as most of the other animes, but instead, it’s based on an original short film by the same studio released in 2013. Two years later, we got Death Parade.

While this review won’t have spoilers, I must say that this is a psychological thriller and it touches delicate subjects such as death, suicide, regret, the afterlife and it’ll also hit you in the feelings.

Nest or Invest, by Enmi Amanda | A review by pj

There was I, random Tuesday afternoon, I was scrolling through my email, checking through a couple of book giveaway emails from Voracious Readers Only, looking at all the free books I could obtain, until I see this title: Nest or Invest, and like a true millennial interested in the idea of investing and cryptocurrency and stocks and all those fancy terms, I clicked. To my surprise, it turned out to be, not a book on investing, but a classic romantic comedy with a trope as old as time: enemies to lovers.

And I’ve been in a mood for funny, light-hearted novels, you know? This is their year.

It’s been a while since my last anime review. Heck it, not even I remember which one it was. It’s also been a while since I’ve watched a new anime series by myself that made me want to write about it (lately I’ve either been rewatching anime or watching new ones with my friends). There’s a certain… something, in watching things by yourself that makes you feel more invested in what you’re watching… or at least that’s what I think… even if you did watch it at someone else’s recommendation.

Today, we’re reviewing the widely popular boy-love/music anime series was released in 2019, created by Natsuki Kizu.

Setting aside the obvious fact that I haven’t been around in like 5 months, and yes an update is coming because this blog is an extension of me now and I can’t let go… It’s time for a review of the first 5 stars book of the year!

The House in the Cerulean Sea is a pretty popular young adult-ish (although the main character is in his 40s) book by the author of the very popular “Wolfsong” series. This book came to me during a very tough book slump and… I mean, I still feel a little slumped, but I loved this book so much and it really got me to start reading again on a regular basis, so here we go!

On writing my New Years Resolutions || 2021 Edition

Welcome to my year post about my new year’s resolutions. This is actually my third year doing it and that’s insane. Yes, I know it’s February, but I still think it’s early enough in the year to write a post about your resolutions, right? Besides, you can set resolutions at any moment you want, it doesn’t have to be necessarily at the beginning of the year. Therefore, here you have it, my sort of resolutions for the year 2021.

Not to sound like everyone else who writes resolutions, but this year will actually be drastically different than the previous ones.
