Hello again! And welcome to the first tag of 2021! I feel like I haven’t seen any interesting book tags lately, but luckily I saw that Kat @ Life and Other Disasters posted this (originally by Chami @ Read Like Wildfire) and I thought, “Hey, I can do this… Why not?” (That’s pretty much my logic with all tags). So here we are!
-puts on reading glasses- So, this tag is pretty straightforward. We just have to answer a couple of questions regarding typical reader habits that make us feel guilty, apparently.
1. Have You Ever Re-Gifted A Book You’ve Been Given?
I’m like 99.9% sure that I haven’t. It might’ve been something that would’ve happened when I was a kid, but now that I remember… I don’t think anyone gave me books for presents when I was a kid, anyways.
I’m gonna say no.
2. Have You Ever Said You’ve Read A Book When You Haven’t?
Maybe one those books that they told us to read for English class in high school. Someone would say “Oh, so have you read any of Edgar Allan Poe’s stories?” And I’d be like “Yeah, sure we read them in high school.” But really, I only vaguely remembered “The Black Cat” because we made a play on it.
3. Have You Ever Borrowed A Book And Not Returned It?
In my defense, they never asked for their books back and I’ve also lent books that were never returned to me so…
4. Have You Ever Read A Series Out Of Order?
Does it count if I started on the second book of the Narnia series? Or if I’ve only read books 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 of the Harry Potter series?
Half a point?
5. Have You Ever Spoiled A Book For Someone?
If I know I’m going to say a spoiler, I usually ask the person if they want to be spoiled. Although one time I spoiled someone on Tony Stark’s death in Avengers Endgame. In my defense, it had been some time since the movie came out.
6. Have You Ever Dogeared A Book?
Yeah. I mean, I obviously prefer to use a bookmark, but I don’t consider it a sin worthy of being sent straight to hell.
7. Have You Ever Told Someone You Don’t Own A Book When You Do?
8. Have You Ever Skipped A Chapter Or A Section Of A Book?
Definitely. The last book I remember doing this with was one called “My Oxford Year.” I was so annoyed with the story and the characters that I just wanted to know how it ended, so I just skimmed through the rest of the book when I was like two thirds into it.
9. Have You Ever Bad Mouthed A Book You Actually Liked?
I don’t think so lolz. I read fiction 99.9% of the time and I’m not ashamed of that at all. Let people read whatever they want to read, and you yourself read whatever you want to read, you know?
4.5 out of 9!
Do I feel guilty? Maybe of not returning those books… but aside from that, not really, lol.
And that was it for today’s post! Thank you so much if you made it this far, and please, feel free to do this tag yourself if you haven’t! Even though this is called the “Guilty Reader Tag” there is definitely nothing here to feel guilty about… except maybe not returning a book, but that can be solved easily. Just return the book! 😁
