All the series I watched the books I read || Oct – Dec 2020 Edition

Hello everyone! My name is pj, and here in reviewerpj we’re still sort of living in the past. Proof of this is that I’m still doing wrap up posts telling you about the series I watched and the books I read in the last 3 months of 2020 (movies will be coming up in the next post).

But I promise you this is the last thing 2020 related that you’ll hear from me.

This is going to be kind of long… so let’s get started!

Sorry I’m late, I didn’t want to come, by Jessica Pan || A review by pj

Welcome! My name is pj, also known as reviewer pj, and this is my first book review in almost a year. Last year I didn’t read enough review-worthy books, but watched a lot of review-worthy series.

This time we’re reviewing a self help book! It’s been years since I’ve read anything that could be considered self help (like 10 or 11 years maybe?) or non-fiction and not because I have anything against them, in fact, I should probably read more of that genre, but if you know the first thing about me is that I like my books as further away from reality as possible.

A couple months ago I found myself in ye ol’ Goodreads looking for self help books for a friend (yes, really) and I stumbled across this one. The phrase “An introvert’s year of saying yes” (or “An introvert’s year of living dangerously“) spoke to me so I added it to the list and several months later, here we are.

The worst of the worst – 2020 Edition

First of all, happy new year 2021!

happy new year nye GIF by evite

Second of all, welcome to my first post of the year 2021! In 2020, we ended the year talking about the best books, series and movies that I saw and read last year. Now in 2021, we’re doing the opposite and talking about the worst movies, series and books I saw and read last year and I’m going to briefly talk about my top 3 of each category.

So, here we go!

The best of the best – 2020 Edition

As the year comes to an end, here at reviewerpj, we (and by we, I mean just me) want to share with you our top 3 of movies, books and series. I’ve been on and off on wordpress for the past 2 or so years and I’ve always wanted to do this at the end of the year but I always forget because of life and work, but this is my year! I’ve kept track of everything and their scores. I’ve been a good muffin!!

So, I did a little bit of math and my year in fiction can be summed up like this.

Throughout the year I’ve watched more movies than in previous years because of the Netflix Party feature and, well, quarantine. As for my series count is on par with previous years as well as my book count. I’m going to briefly talk about my top 3 of each category.

So, here we go!

The End of the Year Booktag – 2020 Edition

We’ve made it to the end of the year, people! And I swear that the flow of time this year has been a weird one, and not just because of the obvious. First we thought January would never end, then March came and we all know what happened, then it was November all of a sudden and when a friend told me that she was starting something in December I was shocked because I thought December was a long way from now but it was literally next week.

And now we’re here. Four days away from the new year. Maybe a little late, but let’s do this.

Thank you to Kat @ Life and Other Disasters because her blog is where I saw this tag!

All the books I’ve read and series I’ve watched this year || Part 2 June – Sept

We talked about all the movies I watched this year (until September) here and here.

We talked about all the books I read and the series I watched (until May) here. And now it’s time for part 2 of the books, series and anime.

And might I just add… I went a little bit out of control with the series… It’s been a rough couple of months and fiction is not only my escape, but it’s also my friend, and without it, my mental health would be far worse than it already is. So anyways, thanks to those fictional stories that stayed by my side. This one’s for you.

Julie and the Phantoms || A Netflix Series Review, by pj

It’s been 2 months, people, and in that time, I traveled (but I was extremely careful and got tested before and after), finally quit the most horrifying job I’ve ever had, while keeping my slightly less horrifying other job, and my Canada plans got pushed back for 2 months because visa procedures SUCK at the moment.

I also thought a lot about making this review even though it’s been several months since it came out, but, oh heck it. Here it goes.

All The Netflix Parties I’ve been to (Part 2: June – September)

Oh June, still in the middle of a global pandemic. My city was starting to reactivate and businesses were opening up and I was starting to go out again like 2 or 3 times per month. June was also the month when I realized that I got so late with the Monthly Wrap Ups that I decided to just put them all together in this simple, and long post alluding to the, back then, new Netflix feature to watch shows and movies with your friend, Netflix Party (now known as TeleParty).

Also because I’ve watched way too many things since June, we’re going to split this into movies and series. So here we go, Netflix Parties part 2: Movies edition.

(Disclaimer, not all of these are on Netflix)

Avatar: The Last Airbender & The Legend of Korra || a review by pj

One of the many non-productive, but very important things I did during this quarantine period (even though we’re not quarantined anymore) was FINALLY watching the series that everyone in my generation and their mother know about.

Because, believe it or not, before August 2020 I had no idea what this Avatar show was all about.
